LET ME HOLD YOUR HAND(chapter-5)
The Confession
Sarah knew that starting a romantic relationship with a close friend could be risky, but she was willing to take the chance with Zayn. One day, Sarah decided to tell Zayn the truth about how she felt.
With sweaty palms and a racing heart, Sarah approached Zayn. "Hey Zayn, can I ask you something?" she started nervously,
"Of course, anything," he replied with a smile."
you've been such an amazing friend to me over the months and you're always there for me.
Lately though...I've felt like maybe there's something more between us.
Are we on the same page?" As soon as Sarah mentioned potentially pursuing something more than friendship with him, Zayn felt like all of his emotions were thrown into chaos.
He thought he knew how he felt about her -- until this moment made everything blurry and uncertain. As he also feels the same way but lately he had made himself promise that he won't express his feelings to Sarah.
Finally gathering himself together enough to give her an answer with conviction that would clear things up, Zayn replied slowly: "Sarah, Sometimes in trying to improve relationships, we lose them forever, and I don't wanna lose you ever. I never expected more than friendship from you."
Sarah felt a lump forming in her throat as she heard those words, and wondered if maybe she had ruined their relationship by bringing this up.
"Sorry if I overstepped earlier," Sarah apologized humbly.
"Don't sweat it," responded Zayn reassuringly.
"I get why your mind went there though. Just remember, no matter what happens tomorrow, I'll stand by you."
Their interaction left a palpable unease between them, making small talk nearly impossible.
Sarah nodded in agreement, the other corner of her mind having a down-hearted feeling deep inside.
After that uncomfortable conversation, they couldn't talk properly for a long time.
After all that happened between them, Sarah had to move to another city due to her father's job transfer, and both her and Zayn's lives changed drastically.
Will this confession lead to their separation? or they will find a way to be together?
